Heard about the three S’s before a date? Well, come and find out what my take on that is and I am sure you would be surprised. You will also hear me cover some of the latest security bugs in software and how that might relate to your soul. A strange combination? Maybe not: I believe that yesterday’s faith is as good today as ever. Come discover how we can clean up our code and our soul.
Speaker Bio:
Jared DeMott, PhD., is a follower of Jesus Christ and a devoted family man. Dr. DeMott is a well known security researcher, and has spoken at conferences such as DerbyCon, BlackHat, Defcon, ToorCon, Shakacon, DakotaCon, CarolinaCon, ThotCon, GRRCon, and Bsides*. Past notable research relates to stopping a trendy hacker exploit technique (known as ROP), by placing as a finalist in Microsoft’s BlueHat prize contest, and winning the bronze in that contest, and by more recently showing how to break/bypass Microsoft’s EMET protection tool.
Dr. DeMott is active in the security community by teaching his Application Security course, and has co-authored the book – Fuzzing for Software Security Testing and Quality Assurance. Dr. DeMott has been on three winning Defcon CTF teams, and has the black badges to prove it. Dr. DeMott has been an invited lecturer at prestigious institutions such as the United States Military Academy, and previously worked for the National Security Agency (NSA). Dr. DeMott holds a PhD from Michigan State University.
