The HackFormers planning meeting in December 2011 was held at Sherlocks Bakers Street Pub, 9012 Research Blvd, Austin, TX on December 02, 2011 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The meeting was started by a prayer by Phil Beyer.
The main discussion points in this meeting was to come up with a structure (meeting format) for the educational meetings that is to commence in March/April timeframe of 2012.
The proposed format for each meeting is to:
1. Have one speaker each month selected ahead of time, and encourage those attending to give a talk at the same meeting (one set speaker, plus open sign ups). Each talk can be a maximum of 30 minutes.
2. Always allow for a set amount of time at the end of each meeting for discussion, regardless of the number of speakers, or the length of talks given.
Additionally, discussion to create a LinkedIn group so professional contacts can be invited and the need to wordsmith the mission statement was covered. The need to find someone to help with developing and maintaining the HackFormers.org website was discussed. Phil agreed to check with his church friends and investigate SquareSpace for hosting the HackFormers.org website. We are still looking and so if you have the interest and the time to help, please let us know.
Brian Engle closed the meeting with prayer.
